Planning For The Holidays

November 9, 2016

It’s that time of year, when families are gathering and enjoying the holiday’s together. It’s no different at my house. Pulling out the family china with it’s rich history,  reserved for these special occasions. Since we are in Charleston, SC, we decided to forgo the typical autumns tones for this years Thanksgiving Dinner. We elected for a subtle coastal twist. Hues of crème, grey, gold, honey, and sage.

Dusty miller with it’s rich velvet stems and dainty florets of the white hydrangeas anchor these beautiful centerpieces. Coastal twist of orchids and sea oats for added depth and texture. We just love using eucalyptus it all it’s form. From small round petals; silver dollar to the berried; seeded eucalyptus, adds that final layer.  Gold votive holders glow along the table, intertwined with our white mini pumpkins, pears and white gourds.

Can’t have a family dinner gathering, without Aunt Betsy’s amazing desserts! Every one has an Aunt Betsy, and boy oh boy, how lucky are we! Everything made from scratch! They taste even better than they look.

Create a dessert bar, line up all the yummy goodness. We removed a wall hanging and hung stripes of ribbon, lace and muslin fabric to create this backdrop.  Incorporate a few of the same gold candles, white pumpkins, gourds, etc.. now the dessert area becomes a focal point for the evening! Who would blame you if you started with dessert!

Thankful and Blessed to spend these special moments with family.
